Video on SketchList Basics – Cabinet Design Software

Resize drawers using furniutre design software

New training video released.  This first video is basic SketchList 3D cabinet design software.

This is the first of  a series of videos using the SketchList 3D cabinet design software to make a cabinet.  We start simple and add to this design.  Don’t skip this if you are new to SketchList 3D.  The basics must be learned and – well – this is an easy way.  Play the video – stop it – replay it – make sure you understand. If not send me an email. The next video (tomorrow ?) covers face frames and the various ways one cabinet can turn into an entire kitchen, office or person cave of cabinetry by stretching, shrinking, and rotating the existing designs.  Automatically change all the materials used in the design will also be covered. Starts with one assembly in a project.  Insert a board and use it by cloning, rotating and changing orientation to make a simple box.  Then select a side board and place a rabbet and dado on that board.  Clone and mirror makes that board into the right side.  Put is a shelf, top and back and you have the box.

This video was updated on March 4, 2014 for corrections in grain direction.

The video shows how to use the forms and spreadsheet to size and locate boards.  It also describes the different board orientations and operations you can perform on an existing board.  Less then five minutes long – well worth the time in terms of getting anyone started with the SketchList 3D cabinet design software.
