Locating Rotated Container with cabinet design software
Locating a rotated object in SketchList 3D cabinet design software
Last week I posted an article and video showing how you can now rotate a container [assembly, door, drawer, hardware] any amount of degrees in SketchList 3D cabinet building software. One thing got a bit glossed over….
The relationship between the container’s point of origin and its boundaries [front, bottom, left] look a bit different after the rotation than before. The result of this is that locating a container to a specific value of left, front, or bottom took a bit of guess work on the part of the designer. We have rectified that by adding a series of blue dots to the corners of a container that has been rotated – actually any container.
I’ll get back to that. By clicking on the button in the upper left of the view image areas of SketchList 3D forms and selecting the menu item show corner points of selected – you can display a small form that lets you change the values of left, front, and bottom for that point. It is really very useful.
Now back to the other thing…. This setting of show corners is a very useful way to move containers around in general. Play with it a bit – you may abandon using the form or spreadsheet 🙂 Let me know what you think of this small but powerful addition.
